It’s hard to believe that six months have came and went since I went live with this whole “blog thing”. Four months earlier I had put my graduate degree program on hold, and found myself needing a creative outlet during my newly freed time.
I can still clearly remember sitting in a Seattle bookstore, nervously hovering over the “Publish” button for the first time; the thought of being vulnerable with strangers was absolutely nerve-wrecking, but I had put in so effort behind the scenes to not deserve this moment (plus little did I know this wouldn’t even be the most painful thing I’d do that day as I ended up spraining my foot just a few hours later).
While I still get nervous before sharing new content, the feeling is now rooted more in excitement than fear. I’m so fortunate to have found a community where I feel free to be my authentic self. A community that is passionate about their industries, while still finding the humor in everyday exchanges. A community that builds up their peers and celebrates their accomplishments, while calling out the unjust. A community that exemplifies hard work, while highlighting an acceptance for imperfection and the importance of self-care.
I don’t know exactly where the next six months will take me, but I’m looking forward to the journey. What I’m trying to say is: I’ve found my people. I’m happy to be here. And you’re all stuck with me.
